An hour away from Pretoria and Johannesburg lies the most romantic and scenic area in the North West Province- Hartebeespoort Dam. My partner and I got enveloped into this amazing area, La Dolce Vita Guesthouse is where we stayed. There are many other amazing accommodations establishments in the area to accommodate any budget. From the moment we walked in, to sitting down for dinner, the checking in was an easy process as we filled in the forms and made it to our table for dinner. Their packages include dinner, a 3-course meal, and their food is ohhhh so amazing. Compliments to the chef. I enjoyed every bit of that dinner, though I couldn’t finish my main, nor my dessert.
After the lovely dinner my partner and I headed to our room. We arrived late at night, so we didn’t really get to see the property properly. It was so cold, and the heater wasn’t working. I hate being cold, but luckily there was a warm blanket in the room and I finally fell asleep. I woke up at 6am to my partner snoring. I am an early bird. So I decided to watch videos on my phone thanks to the Wi-Fi. And it’s on 100. There were no problems with the connection. I then took a shower and got ready for breakfast, my partner opted to bath after having breakfast. As we stepped outside, we were greeted by a beautiful view of the dam. *Pictures uploaded to our gallery* Our room was just outside the dining area, so we made our way down the stairs into the dining area to have breakfast. Breakfast was also amazing, I can still remember the first bite, and those delicious mushrooms- we had a full English breakfast, a vegetarian option was also on offer. After breakfast we then went back into the room and into the Jacuzzi.
We checked out and headed to the boat cruise, for the Sunday Lunch. This cruise happens every Sunday 1-3pm, by the Harties Boat Company, and is included in the weekend package for couples/singles staying at the Guesthouse. Welcome drinks are served as you get on the boat.
1pm on the dot the boat left the dock. They started with the safety brief before we went off. The air was cool and the sun was shining, the weather was perfect for the lunch. Couples and mini groups got on board. There was a group celebrating a birthday. We sat downstairs, next to the buffet. *LOL* As the boat moved out, they served the starters- I ate all the mushrooms- I love mushrooms. Mushrooms are life. Soon the buffet was open and I was one of the first 5 people to dish up. Soon after everyone came downstairs to dish up, the food on my plate was almost gone. It was so delicious, I wished my mom was there to eat with me. I will be taking her one of these Sundays for lunch. If you can, do also take your loved ones out for lunch sometimes. The view of the Magaliesberg Mountains from the boat is amazing, had me wanting to hike up them. As we made our turn back dessert was served. A perfect end to a beautiful day. I stood admiring the houses on the dam.
It was indeed a wonderful getaway. For packages please refer to the weekend getaway tab on our home page. And I hope you enjoy your stay like I did.
Do make a stop by Little Paris on your way home. You will love it!!
